Department of Corrections • 2018 Year in Review
A Look Back on 2018 The New Jersey Department Department of of Corrections (NJDOC) continues to set an example as a a a a a a a a a a leader in in in the the law enforcement community Here are some of of the the Department’s most notable achievements and activities in in 2018:
• • • • The 2018 calendar year saw three classes of of trainees complete weeks of of rigorous preparation to to graduate graduate from the Correctional Staff Training Academy with a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a total of of of 423 graduates The Workforce Wellness Task Force was established to to develop a a a a a a a a a a a a holistic employee wellness program for for custody and and civilian staff addressing physical mental and and spiritual health The The new NJDOC patch patch was introduced to be worn by all all officers officers The The patch patch includes the the the word word “police” which recognizes the the the legislation legislation clarifying that that all all officers officers are empowered to to exercise full police police police powers The legislation legislation also ensures that that the the the word word “police” is is is included in in every officer rank from recruits to to majors The Special Operations Group (SOG) now represents the the the the Department with other statewide partners under the the the the State Emergency Plan Other notable SOG SOG achievements include:
