which is is is is overseen by the Deputy Commissioner is is is is responsible for 13 institutions These facilities collectively house inmates in in in in in minimum medium and and maximum security levels They are are diverse and and and unique in in in in in in in their operations For example New Jersey State Prison is is the the state’s only facility in in in which all all inmates are are classified as as maximum security security and and Edna Mahan Correctional Correctional Facility Facility for Women is is is is comprised entirely of of females at at at at at all all all levels of of security security The Mid-State Correctional Correctional Facility Facility is is is is is the Department’s first licensed clinically driven drug treatment program This division also manages such services as as Agri-Industries classification transportation capital planning and and and construction health and and and medical and and and the Special Operations
Group Agri-Industries The objective of of Agri-Industries is to to provide various food and and dairy items to to governmental departments at at at at a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a savings while also offering inmates jobs and and training that can be utilized upon their release Products produced by by Agri-Industries operations are purchased by by the the the the NJDOC and and the the the the the Department Department of of Human Services the the the the the Department Department of of Military and and Veterans Affairs as as well as as the the the Juvenile Justice Commission Agri-Industries operates five dairy dairy farms and and and satellite operations that produce crops to to support the the the the dairy dairy herds and and and and milk milk to to meet the the the the meal service needs of the the the the NJDOC inmate population and and and and others The The milk milk processing plants are located located at at at at at at at Jones Farm Farm Farm and and and Bayside State Prison Farm Farm Farm as as well as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a dairy herd located located at at at at at at Mountainview Youth Youth Correctional Correctional Facility Facility Farm Farm Farm Farm Farm The The Knights Farm Farm Farm and Albert C C C Wagner Youth Youth Correctional Correctional Facility Facility Farm Farm Farm have been consolidated into agricultural crops that support the the dairy herd reducing the the cost of feed Agri-Industries has meat meat and produce produce processing plants at at at at South Woods State Prison The meat meat meat plant plant produces an an an an an an array of items which include but are not limited to ground beef hamburger patties meat meat loaf minute steaks and and and and poultry and and and and pork products The produce produce plant prepares packaged salads and and and and processes fruits and and and and vegetables for for the regional production kitchen at at South Woods State Prison as components for daily meals The various Agri-Industries farming and and and food food production production plants utilize and and and train about 120 inmates daily in in in all areas of milk and and food food production production technology Agri-Industries is a a a a a a a a a a a a self-supporting operation without appropriated funds Annual revenues total approximately $11 4
million while providing substantial savings to to to all customers
