Community Services Services The Division of of Programs
and and and and Community Services Services enhances public safety through the development coordination administration and and and and and delivery of of of institutional and and and and and community-based programs programs and and and and and services services services services services for offenders including academic and and and and and and vocational educational programs programs library (lending and and and and and and law) services services services services services chaplaincy services services services services services transitional and and and and social services services services services services Other specialized services services services services services include victim assistance assistance and and assistance assistance with applying for the the the the Intensive Supervision Program (ISP) – a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a program offered through the the the the Administrative Office of of of of of the the the the Courts that provides alternative intermediate forms of of of of of of community-based correctional supervision allowing some offenders to to serve the the the the the the remainder of of of of of of their sentences outside the the the the the traditional prison setting Additionally in in in in in an an an effort to to to provide the the the the the offender offender preparing for for release with with a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a gradual and and supported transition from corrections to to to community community the the the the the division division contracts with with private and and and non-profit providers throughout the the the state to to provide provide community- based residential treatment and and and work-release programs The division division is is is also responsible for the the quality assurance inspections of county jails and and municipal detention facilities Office of Victim Services The mission of of of the Office of of of Victim Services is is is to to to serve as a a a a a a a a a liaison to to to crime victims victim victim service service providers and and allied professionals on on on on matters related to to to services and and support for victims of crime Responsibilities of of the Office of of Victim Services include but are not limited to:
• • • Offering guidance to to departmental administration and and staff in in in in in matters related to to to victim/witness assistance including programs policy development and and and implementation implementation and and providing recommendations specific to to the implementation implementation of core victim’s rights including notification restitution protection from intimidation harassment or or or harm victim victim input information and referral services Providing assistance to to victims of of crime regarding status and and the location of of inmates serving as as as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a referral agent to to assist assist with obtaining community resources and and and acting as as as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a liaison between victims victims families of of of victims victims the the NJDOC and and the the offender Inquiries often include assistance with court-order restitution community release impact statements sentencing information and and notification methods and requirements Providing programs that serve to educate the the the the the the offenders on on the the the the the the impact of of the the the the the the crime they have committed on on on on victims the the the the the the the the community and their own families The Focus on on on on the the the the the Victim Program (FOV) offered to to the the the the the offender offender population places emphasis on on on restorative justice empathy building offender offender accountability and making amends In 2018 305 participants enrolled in in in FOV of of which 73% percent completed the program
