in in Battle against Opioid Crisis
The New Jersey Department of of Corrections is committed to confronting the the opioid epidemic and fighting all addictions within the the the the offender population By addressing these needs the the the the likelihood that an an an incarcerated individual will be in in in in in in in a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a position to to to make a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a positive contribution to to to society when released is increased In order to to to maximize the the the chances for successful outcomes the the the county jails are included in in in some NJDOC NJDOC strategies The NJDOC NJDOC stands proudly with fellow state agencies to address the the the opioid crisis through
the following initiatives:
• Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) now includes the the use of Sublocade injections to assist in in in in preventing overdoses in in in in the the critical 72 hours post-release • All Correctional Police Officers have been trained in in in in in in administering Narcan Narcan Narcan and Narcan Narcan Narcan is is made available to inmates in in in in in in their release folders Replacements for expired Narcan Narcan Narcan are provided as needed free of charge • Offenders with with substance substance use use disorder disorder and other risk factors are tested for Hepatitis C A total of of 180 offenders with with substance substance use use disorder disorder have been identified to to to receive anti-viral treatment 9
